You'd have to be there

Sometimes I wish
I could’ve lived in the fifties
Everything seemed so simple then

Sometimes I wish
I could’ve lived in the sixties
Flowers in your hair
Peace and love in the air

You’d have to be there with me

Sometimes I wish
We could’ve danced the seventies
To the beat of a happy song
Telling us we can all belong

Sometimes I wish
That the eighties had been my own
I would’ve conquered them for you
I would’ve offered them to you

But you’d have to be there with me

You’d have to be there
Without you I could be no one, nowhere
You’d have to be there
No place in time I could call mine

Sometimes I wish
That the nineties never came
‘Cause this is when things
Didn’t feel the same

And if I could wish just one more thing
It would be that you’d be listening
When I say walk along with me
Wherever it leads we shall see

You’d have to be there with me

You’d have to be there
Without you I could be no one, nowhere
You’d have to be there
No place in time I could call mine
You’d have to be there oh oh
You’d have to be there
No place in time I could call mine

You’d have to be there
Without you I could be no one, nowhere
You’d have to be there
No place in time I could call mine
You’d have to be there oh oh
You’d have to be there
No place in time I could call mine

Sometimes I wish I could stop time
To relive one moment frozen in my mind
And I wish that you’ll be there with me
Always with me

This song is for chicks.

Every album needs a chick song, a romantic song, no? Seriously, this one was written without obligation. It’s a mix between a love song and longing for easier times or what seemed to be easier times. For every decade one can name a conflict but one can also focus on what was good about it. Time travel… Wouldn’t you wish your soul mate could be there with you? (Remember, this is a love song!)

J-P saved the day for this one. The whole song is based on a very simple chord structure. Felt a bit ordinary. J-P came up with a quite unexpected beat the first time the band played it together. He brought a challenge though. To give it some space, the guitar strumming as well as the bass line had to be revised. But it was worth it. The song is more original now than it was at first. Sly composed a very interesting bass line and Gab’s solo is one of his best on the album.
